Mid-book method

Volume 1, puzzle 52

Case 52 is in the second half of the advertised 100-puzzle collection. Use the instructions printed in your own copy to decide which statements are evidence and whether the case asks you to identify a liar.

Level 1: finish ordinary evidence first

Put each ordinary clue on a clean base grid. Keep this evidence-only copy separate so a rejected witness trial cannot leave marks behind.

Level 2: test the rules actually printed

If your case instructions specify exactly one liar, invert one candidate statement and keep the others true. Do not merely ignore that statement. Without that instruction, do not introduce a liar.

Level 3: compare trials and check corrections

Reject trials that contradict the base grid. A surviving trial must satisfy every instruction, not merely fill all cells. If none survive, recheck transcription and the correction source for your edition before claiming a printing error.

The publisher describes a range from Elementary to Impossible, but that alone does not verify the contents of case 52. The steps below are conditional strategy, not a claim about an unseen clue. The official English errata list checked today names case 61 in Volume 1, not case 52.

  1. Apply all ordinary evidence clues before testing any witness statement.
  2. If the case says one speaker lies, choose a candidate and reverse that speaker's statement; keep the others true.
  3. Reject a candidate when the grid contradicts itself. Repeat with the next candidate; a complete grid must satisfy the case instructions, not just look full.
  4. Check the errata page before you blame the printing.

Questions and answers

Is puzzle 52 a known misprint?

Not on the basis of a search snippet. I list a case on the errata page only when murdle.com/errata names it.

Where is the walkthrough?

In the back of your copy. This page is the method, not a transcript.
