Elementary to Impossible
Tips by difficulty
Record confirmed information before testing a theory. The publisher preview names four bands: Elementary, Occult Medium, Hard Boiled and Impossible. Follow the instructions in your case, rather than inferring a rule from its number.
Elementary
Every statement is true. Write the checks the sentence gives you, then fill any row that has one blank. Do not touch the accusation until the grid has one check per group.
Intermediate and harder
Read the difficulty instructions in your own case. If a case specifies a liar, test each candidate separately: invert that person's statement, keep the other statements true, and fill the grid. A contradiction rejects the candidate. Do not remove the last statement used and call the remaining grid a proof. Codes must be decoded before their facts can be applied.
- Finish all direct crosses before you assume a liar.
- If two solutions still fit, recheck all constraints and the case instructions before assuming an error.
- Saturday dailies get the long sitting. Sunday adds the week's culprits back.

Questions and answers
What is a good solve time?
The official site does not publish a target time. I care that the grid closed, not that a clock did.
Are the tips different for Mini?
The marks are the same. Mini just gives you fewer rows, so a missed cross shows up faster.
